Ingredients
600g (1/2 lbs) strong plain flour1 packet easy dried yeast
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 pint warm water
How to make White Bread Rolls
I learnt this as a child at school and its fool-proof for fantastically yummy (easy, cheap) soft bread rolls.
Put the flour into a bowl. Add the salt and oil.
Add the yeast.
Add the warm water and mix to a soft but not sticky dough.
Knead the dough until smooth.
Put the dough back into the bowl and cover with a tea towel. Leave for around 20-30 mins (or until doubled in size).
Take dough out of the bowl and knead to make a firm dough.
Divide into pieces and shape for rolls (roll into balls with hands).
Place rolls on greased baking sheet. Leave in a warm place until doubled in size.
Bake at gas mark 8 (450 F) for 15-20 mins.
Allow to cool a little, then slice rolls in half and butter them.
