Portuguese Egg Tarts

Ingredients

Crust

500g ready made puff pastry

Filling
200g whipping cream
300g milk
80g sugar (I used 60g caster sugar & 20g ordinary sugar)

3eggs(the site that I originally copied the recipe from uses 4 eggs and 3 yolks)

3 egg yolks (I end up using 4 eggs and 2 egg yolks)

1/4 tsp vanilla essence (I think I used more than that. LMAO Main tembak)

How to make Portuguese Egg Tarts


  1. roll our the pastry to a rectangular shape about 3mm thick. roll it up like a swiss roll. chill until firm.
  2. divide the pastry into 25g portions, flatten the pastry and roll it into about 3mm thickness. press onto the tart moulds.
  3. filling: cook whipping cream and mil until 70c.stir in sugar and cook until sugar dissolves. add into the beaten eggs and egg yolks. mix until well blended. lastly add in the vanilla essence. set aside to cool.
  4. pour the filling into the pasrty tarts from step 2. then bake at 220Cfor 20-25mins.

I took this recipe from http://www.justheavenly.blogdrive.com/ and it works wonderfully.

However, I made some adjustments to the recipe (those in brackets are mine) because I don't have some of the ingredients needed at home that time. But still, the tarts turned out great and it was my first time making portuguese egg tarts.
