How to make Quick Tofu Hotpot
This is very quick, easy, and healthy!
1. cut up one block of silken tofu and put in a pot with 3/4 cup bonito, 3/4 cup water, 2 tbl soy, 1 tbl sake, and 1 tbl sugar.
2. Simmer for 5 min, while beating an egg.
3. After 5 min, pour the egg over the top, stir around a few times, turn off the heat and cover for 1 minute. (like making eggdrop soup) Top with spring onions and enjoy! (^ω^)

tranism saysHow cooked is the egg supposed to be? 1 min covered wasn't enough to cook my egg. Took nearly 5 minutes.

Papermoon saysIt's supposed to be cooked like it is in eggdrop soup. So beaten egg swirled into the simmering liquids should cook it right away! I will ammend the directions :)

annedn saysIs it okay if the bonito shavings aren't in the dish?...What could be an alternative?
-
Papermoon saysif you can't find bonito or don't have the dashi stock powder, you can add a dab of fish sauce with a pinch of sugar. (Just a little though! It's way more powerful than bonito is!)

jingjong saysI really like the simplicity of this recipe. I have a question: Is there a huge difference in taste when you use bonito vs. dashi no moto?
